My name is Tangelene Bolton. I am a Film Composer based in Los Angeles, working on projects in the realm of: Film, TV, Video Games, and Commercials. Upon moving to LA, I had the opportunity to work for the legendary film composer, Hans Zimmer (The Lion King, Gladiator, The Dark Knight, Inception, Interstellar) as well as Henry Jackman (X-Men, Captain Phillips, Captain America, Big Hero 6).
I grew up in Flemington, NJ where music and art were a part of my upbringing. My grandmother was the first to teach me how to play the piano. I loved to create plays with my sisters and friends that we performed for our parents. Concerts were held in our backyard organized by my mother, where local musicians played for children and their families.
My love for music grew as I continued classical piano training throughout my childhood that later led to my study at the Princeton Westminster Conservatory of Music. At the same time, I developed an interest in film and started making my own short films with my small camcorder. I soon enrolled in every Television and Film Production course I could take in high school and later at the Philadelphia University of the Arts and the New York Film Academy. By the time I finished my high school education, I realized my love for both film and music were so strong that I made my way to Hampshire College in Amherst, MA. and then later, to Berklee College of Music in Boston, where I received my Bachelor of Music degree in Film Scoring.
I have always loved imagining and being completely submerged in the minds of the characters in movies I watched. I found film in my teens and grew up watching and discovering the ones that reached out to me. My love for it grew as the films I watched started teaching me how to understand myself. I want to help create what has been given to me for a while now, the ability to become significantly impacted by films, and I want to use music as a way of doing that.
